What’s Changing in the Peptide Market — and Why King Reta Has Updated Wellness Management

The peptide and GLP-1 market has been changing quickly in 2026. It is not the result of one single new law. Instead, businesses across the space are responding to a mix of FDA enforcement activity, compounding policy changes and increased scrutiny around how research products are presented and marketed.

What has changed?

In April 2026, the FDA clarified its position on compounding semaglutide and tirzepatide as national supply stabilized. The agency reiterated that compounders must meet specific conditions under sections 503A and 503B of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and that semaglutide and tirzepatide were not on the FDA drug shortage list at that time.

Later that month, FDA proposed excluding semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide from the 503B bulks list after concluding that it had not identified a clinical need for outsourcing facilities to compound those drugs from bulk substances.

Enforcement activity has also increased. During 2026, FDA issued warning letters to multiple peptide sellers. A recurring point in those letters is that simply labeling a product “Research Use Only” or “Not for Human Consumption” does not, by itself, determine how FDA views a product if the surrounding website content or marketing suggests an intended human-drug use.

In September 2026, FDA also updated Import Alert 66-80 relating to detention without physical examination of certain GLP-1 receptor agonist bulk drug substances.

What does that mean for King Reta?

For customers, the biggest visible change is that our former peptide category is now presented as Wellness Management, and we have simplified the ordering process so products can be selected directly by SKU and fulfilled through a separate workflow.

This does not mean every product in the market has suddenly become illegal, nor does it mean that one new piece of legislation has changed everything overnight. The regulatory and enforcement environment is evolving, and businesses operating in this space need to be more deliberate about product presentation, claims, ordering and fulfillment.

For that reason, King Reta is keeping product descriptions focused on identification and ordering information and avoiding medical, treatment, dosing or disease claims.

Why are we talking about it?

Because we would rather explain why the customer experience has changed than leave people wondering where products went or why the ordering process looks different.

Our goal is simple: make the store easier to use, keep product information clear, and adapt responsibly as the regulatory environment develops.
